It was Aaron's birthday on July 3rd! Katie from the SoA Sonic team posted a photo to celebrate it and Aaron replied on the following day, reporting that he's been enjoying Japan for the past week, as seen in his photo from Nara deer park and the tweet by Senoue-san few days ago with a photo of him and Aaron at Tokyo Joypolis!

Here is a summary of how to celebrate Sonic's birthday 2019 in Japan.
It looks like it's currently only the Sonic greetings that's going to take place. There won't be any stage event. I guess Iizuka-san's schedule didn't fit this time? Last year he came all the way from LA just to attend thie event!
I wish they would have planned TSR competition or something similar, it's be a great opportunity for that! Or live music event with Senoue-san and his 'Sonic Adventure Music Expenditure'! Would be a blast.

Like in 2016, there was a Sonic Birthday Event at Tokyo Joypolis!
SEGA did not organize it last year, so fans have been waiting for this day for two years. The event hall was filled with people!
Here is the official livestream of the event. Below this you will see the summary of all the fun stuff that happened!
(Actual stage starts at around 16 minutes from video start. Skip there, or otherwise enjoy awesome Sonic music to chill out. Both are good ideas :D )
- Greetings! Today's MC is Yurika Tachibana-san. She has been working with some previous Sonic events.
With everybody's call, Sonic appears on stage! So cool!
We then invited Iizuka-san, who came from Los Angels to Tokyo just because of this event (!), on stage!
- Introduction to Sonic Mania Plus and a trial on 4P battle mode with the MC and three people from the audience.
Oh look! One of the lucky people was cosplaying as Tails, and she's got hand-made fluffy Tails tails!
- First showcase of Ep.4 of Sonic Mania Adventures in Japan.
- The Japanese version of Sonic Mania Plus will include special OST CDs too!
- Introduction to Team Sonic Racing with Director Kawarazuka playing the demo from E3. Characters were introduced with their voices and shots with their cars. 3 more characters from Team Rose (Amy, Chao, Big) were revealed.
- Characters from previously revealed two teams "Team Sonic" and "Team Dark" were revealed with their voices. Additionally, a new team was revealed!
Team Sonic
—Team Sonic Speed Type: Sonic.
“さあ、パーティーの始まりだ! Alright, the party is beginning!”
Speedy streamlined design for Sonic. Speed type can knock off surrounding cars when boosting.
—Team Sonic Technique Type: Tails.
“準備オッケーだよ! I’m ready!”
Tails’ car is like a classic Lotus. Technique type cars have the best handling and can drive on unpaved course without speeding down.
—Team Sonic Power Type: Knuckles.
”へっ、準備万端だぜ! Heh, I’m all ready!”
A hard off-roader for Knuckles. Power type are more aggressive and can knock off opponents by tackling; they also have special Wisp types that can only be used by them.
Team Dark
—Team Dark Speed Type: Shadow.
“勝負の時間だ。It’s time for the match.”
Shadow’s sharply designed machine is Iizuka-san’s favorite out of all.
—Team Dark Technique Type: Rouge.
“さあ、始めましょ! Let’s begin!”
A machine with sharp design that maintains character image of spy.
—Team Dark Power Type: Omega.
“スタンバイ、完了 Stand-by, ready”
Omega’s car doesn’t have a handle. Since he is a machine, he docks to his machine and controls it directly. Both him and the car are so huge that they don’t fit in the picture!
Newly revealed: Team Rose with rather cute and relaxed styles.
—Team Rose Speed type: Amy.
“さあ、レース開始ね! OK, the race is starting!”
Amy’s car is a cute, round-shaped open car.
—Team Rose Technique type: Four Chao riding a car together.
“準備万端チャオ！ We’re all ready!”
Normal, Hero and Dark Chao will ride in the canopy and Omochao will sit on the back to give orders. It’s ‘team racing’ alone with this car!
—Team Rose Power Type: Big.
“レースが楽しみだねぇ～。I’m looking forward to the race.”
His best friend Froggy and his hobby fishing are designed to his car. It’s one of Iizuka-san’s favorites.
- Birthday message from Senoue-san, who was recording the sounds for Team Sonic Racing that day.
- Information on various Sonic goods that can be bought in Joypolis, Village Vanguard, and online at SEGA shop etc.
- Ohtani-san as surprise guest appeared on stage and showcased the LP of Sonic Forces ‘THE VINYL CUTZ’.
- ‘Fist Bump’ comes to maimai, the rhythm game.
- Sonic joining Super Smash Brothers ULTIMATE (called SPECIAL in Japan).
- Second collaboration with PUMA announced. Shoes wil be sold only from ABC-MART.
- Everyone sang Happy Birthday song for Sonic!
