New trailers of "Mario & Sonic AT 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games" were released & official website of the game was updated with tons of new information!

There are two versions of the trailer: one for US & Europe and one for Japan, which is longer and has more interesting new footages.

These trailers confirmed the anticipated '2D Classic Mode' of the game which was teased in the first trailer in June. Moreover, the release dates were revealed to be beginning of November this year!

Have a look at them yourself!

↓ ↓ ↓

1. US / Europe trailer

Release dates: Nov. 5th for the US / Nov. 8th for Europe.

The trailer shows the characters from Mario and Sonic worlds taking part to various Olympic events, who then change their appearances to that of the time of their debut!
Mario and co. in 8-bit, Sonic and co. in 16-bit - with the background also changing to pixelated images, they dive into the past and take part to even more variety of Olympic sports!

Okunari-san commented on the trailer!
"The 2D version was actually already in the teaser trailer released in June. It was shown only for a second, so everyone ignored it *laugh*"
- Yosuke Okunari

I actually think many people pointed it out and were excited for it though! Right?

2. Japanese trailer

This longer version which was released a day after containes a lot more information and footages of the game! Have a look here, and read English translation by me below the video with additional information regarding Japanese culture & Tokyo sightseeing spots for those who need it.

Release date for Japan in Nov. 1st.
Also, this is a rather rare case in which a Sonic related game will be released in Japan earlier than any other part of the world.

Oh look, Sonic hot air balloon! I want to ride that in real life.

The wave looks really cool! And Shadow actually really matches here.

In Story Mode, Mario and Sonic with their friends (and enemies) are sucked into the world of an old game - the stage is now Tokyo in 1964!

Wow, there are so many more - both in 3D and 2D!

Top right, a boat race in Tokyo bay?
Bottom left... Not sure which road, but must be somewhere in Tokyo.
Bottom right, maybe the fancy Takeshita Street of Harajuku which is popular among young people.

The top left image is probably a museum with traditional Japanese arts such as seto ware.
Top right is in front of the Kabuki-za theater in Ginza.
Bottom left, even a 'Where is Wally?'-game in Shibuya's famous scramble crossing!
Bottom right shows the Japanese bullet train.

Wow, so many new footages of the game!
Both the normal 3D mode and 2D Classic mode look very fun! They added variety to the game by choosing different sports for each version, which I really like.

Also, Dream Events confirmed! It looks like they used the designs from Metropolitan Highway of Sonic Forces + Hoverboards from Sonic Riders series. Cool!

Some might be disappointed that there are only three events for Dream matches, but this time they also have Mini Games based on Tokyo's sightseeing spots. And here, there are at least 10 of them!
The section for Mini Games is still not open on the official website so we don't have details to them yet, but they seem to be very fun to play! These games will be a good opportunity to get to know Tokyo's sightseeing spots and Japanese culture.

Much more detailed information to the game can be found at their official website!
Multilanguage available.

Currently there are more information on the Japanese page than on English or any other languages.
The structure of the pages are also fancier in Japanese version.

On Japanese page for "Characters", you can switch 3D and 2D images for characters who appear in 2D classic mode by clicking on them! Try it out!

Modern 3D renders! Pretty.

Click on them and they are in their debut forms at once!
Even the font for the names change to pixalated ones! So neat.

And more characters!
Look at those beautiful and lively character renders! I love them.
