News from 2021.01.28
Archived on 2021.04.03

A shocking news for Sonic fans - Roger Craig Smith, who has been the English voice of Sonic for 10 years, is leaving the role.

Smith implied this in his previous tweet with an image of broken blue heart, which lead to many speculations among fans - and now, it's official.

His tweet was embraced with kind messages from collegues who have been working on Sonic with him over the past 10 years.

How you liked his take on Sonic or not, let's thank him for being the voice of our beloved Blue Blur for the longest time.

Sonic Station LIVE! broadcast 20th every month

News from 2020.02.14
Archived on 2020.02.16

Such an exciting news from SEGA Official!
It's been announced last year that SEGA will pour in more budget in Sonic franchise, and set this 2020 as the Year of Sonic.
On January 20th, they hinted at an event taking place on 20th of each month this year. Now, its detail was revealed!

New SONIC2020 project official livestream "Sonic Station LIVE!" will be brought to you on every 20th of the month by Creative Director Kazuyuki Hoshino-san and Sound Director Jun Senoue-san as the MCs! Stay tuned for the Sonic related information from games to fashion goods!
They also expect messages and questions from you! Send them through the message form and they might be read and answered by the MCs!

The livestream is already being set on YT, so go check it out and turn on notification!

[The broadcast of February will cover Sonic games including the lately released "SEGA AGES Sonic the Hedgehog 2" for Nintendo Switch, and do-not-miss apparel goods of Sonic!]

I guess it's going to be something similar to a radio program. I already sent them a message - will it be read by Senoue-san and Hoshino-san? I'm looking forward to it very much!

Also, it would be cool if other members of Sonic series and voice actors are invited to the livestream  as guests! Who would you want to come?

I wouldn't be able to do a live coverage, but I'll try to summarize contents after each broadcast. Stay tuned!

Naka-san on an article about Michael Jackson and SEGA

News from 2019.06.25
Archived on 2019.07.23

The King of Pop passed away 10 years ago from this day. Upon reading an article about the close relationship Michael Jackson and SEGA had, Yuji Naka-san recalled his memory about him.

To add-on, in the article it is stated that as Naka-san realized what happened (and got kicked in the seat by somebody), he couldn't stand up from his seat for a while...
Well, the strict rule of 'clients first' must be followed... The article doesn't state any negative afterstory of this, so I assume MJ left SEGA happily despite this incident. Pfew!

Michael Jackson was known as a huge SEGA fan. Whenever he visited Japan, he'd visit SEGA HQ and let Hisashi Suzuki-san, who was a very good friend of him, show him new games in developments and give advices for making them better since he, too, was a creator and entertainer.
It is still very memorable that Michael Jackson brought his own project of making a game about himself and made it happen while actively contributing to it. (Fun fact: this game was once shown in a popular Japanese TV show「トリビアの泉 (Fountain of Trivia)」, in which trivias and not-so-useful facts of everyday life were posted by audience. So apparantly many people (at least, non-gamers) in Japan didn't know about its existence.) The rhythm game 'Space Channel 5' series also has his cameo appearance. And not to forget, he also worked on the music of Sonic 3.

His legacy in SEGA games shall be passed down the generations.
