Famitsu's TSR series: 5th article on Team Sonic Racing from the latest Famitsu!

Revealed are more information on the three racing types: Speed, Technique and Power, and the customization function. Also new course Frozen Junkyard and hints to drive well on this icy mountain!

Team Sonic Racing's three racer types and machine customization info released

Three Racer Types

Speed type (Sonic, Shadow, Amy, Blaze, Metal Sonic)

• Has the fastest top speed out of three types
• Relatively low defence ability
• → Basic strategy would be to stay in the top group and provide a stable Line Boost or actively send obtained items to own teammates.
• When boosting after drifting or driving through boost panel, Speed type can activate unique-to-type "Radial Burst" which can repel enemy cars and attacks

Technique Type (Tails, Rouge, Chao, Silver, Dr. Eggman)

• High acceleration and handling abilties
• Can control the pace of whole race by utilizing items and team actions in full
• Can drive on fields outside the course road without losing speed → you might find unexpected short cut routes!

Power Type (Knuckles, Omega, Big, Vector, Zavok)

• High boost power and defence abilities
• Strategy is to raise team rank by aiming for Line Boost continuously and by supporting teammates who spinned by Touch-Dashing
• Does not spin
• Can obtain Wisps (items) with more aggressive abilities

Customization

Playing the game gives the player various parts, color, decal and horns for customization.
Adjust machine ability by changing parts.
Appeal your unique racing car with online races!

<Parts customization>
Changing parts not only changes appearance of the machine, but it also changes parameters.
Strengthen advantages or cover weak points? You choose!

Parts

• 3 classes of parts: 
• Front parts
• Rear parts
• Wheel
• They all can be combined freely 
• Parts change causes changes in 5 parameters: 
• Acceleration
• Boost
• Defence
• Handling
• Top speed

Color/Paint

• Choose freely from a palette of four colors
• Changeable areas are devided into three
• Even with the character's unique palette, different coloring pattern changes the whole impression!
• "Glowing" paint can be chosen for some parts

Texture

• Choose from 4 options, and their levels (adjustable in three levels each):
• Plastic - matte color
• Metal
• Paint
• Metallic paint - glaring reflections

Skin/Decal

• Add decorational designs to the machine
• Color of the design can be changed for each of the three area

Horns

• Different horn sound can be chosen for each racing car
• Choose from over 40 kinds of horns!
• Some examples on the photo: Whisle, Bad Robot, Rock, Happy Computer, Blue Computer, Fly-By, Insect, Pop, Rock, Space Goat, Thump, Accordeon, Bongo, ... and more!

New course: Frozen Junkyard!

"Dr. Eggman's junkyard for his inventions that is placed on an iceberg of Glacier Land, an area covered in ice allover. Unique points are a course full of up-downs and various forkings caused by cracks of ice. At the end of the course, a huge Death Egg Robot will stand in your way trying to burn racers down with its laser beams together with Dr. Eggman's failed works. Once you get through the lasers and get inside the robot's body, it's your chance for a comeback with a zone filled with boost panels!"

New concept picture shows Silver racing through the road trying to avoid the Death Egg's laser beams. So exciting!

Other pictures are in-game screenshots with captions, translated as follows (check picutres in the original article!):

1. Race through a complex course made inside an iceberg. Aim for Line Boost when driving in a broad road.
2. There are many twists and forkings made by mother nature. Choose your own fastest route.
3. A huge Death Egg Robot appears. It burns all unnecessary inventions by Dr. Eggman.
4. It shoots strong laser beams at the racers. If you get hit, you might be disposed as a waste!
5. Getting inside the body of Death Egg Robot. Don't miss these Boost Panels and accelerate!
6. Near the goal, Eggman's suspicious mecha appear. Avoid them well and speed up!

Frozen Junkyard looks so much fun to race through. It also sounds closely related to Eggman's masterplan this time...
