Sonic officials' birthday wishes!

28 years ago from today, Sonic the Hedgehog was released in the US and sped through the gaming world like a fresh wind.

Today, not only the fans all around the world celebrated the birthday of our beloved Blue Blur, but messages from the people on the official side of Sonic development were seen on Twitter. Here is the summary!

Junichi Kanemaru-san, the Japanese voice of Sonic and his buddy since the Dreamcast era, wished Sonic happy birthday by singing Birthday Song to him. So sweet!

"Always together from the Dreamcast era...
Many things happened since then.

Like in the past,
And onwards,
Please keep on running.

I will follow you as long as I can!

Happy birthday.

In Love & Light."

- Junichi Kanemaru

Kanemaru-san also thanks people who suggested him with ideas for Sonic stickers he wants to stick on his new iPad.

"It's Sonic's birthday and I bought an iPad just now, so I'm thinking of putting a special Sonic sticker on its back. Do you have any suggestions?"
- Junichi Kanemaru

"Thank you everyone. There are so many variants of Sonic stickers and I have a hard time choosing one. I will consider very well about which one to pick.
Sonic is starting to run onwards this year again with birthday wishes from numerous Sonic fans. I wish you the best, Sonic!"
- Junichi Kanemaru

In response to Kanemaru-san's birthday wishes, Yuji Naka-san, one of the original creators of Sonic (programmer), thanking Kanemaru-san for his longtime work as Sonic's VA...
"Happy birthday Sonic. The time we were discussing whether to let Sonic speak as we developed Sonic Adventure is nostalgic. Thank you Kanemaru-san as always."
- Yuji Naka

...to which Kanemaru-san replied, thanking him.
"Naka-san! I'm grateful.
Thank you very much."
- Junichi Kanemaru

Naka-san also tweeted some screenshots from a video footage from the time of Sonic the Hedgehog's development in 1990, alongside with their explanations!

"FCOL3.ASM is short for field collision, and it is a program for recognizing shape of the field.
The numbers like 4 and 8 after downdotmax or jumpdotmax shows the limit of Sonic's movement. These programs are the 'life' of Sonic, so to say.
GAME.ASM is the main game sequence of Sonic. The main body of the game."
- Yuji Naka

"What Sonic actually sees as he is running - the field collision shape - is shown on the right TV screen. If you look closely, you notice that the gound is rounding up gradually. When this makes one circle, it becomes the famouns loop in Sonic games. Unlike the images in-game, Sonic is seeing such data as he runs."
- Yuji Naka

Very interesting insights into the programming of Sonic games!

Later, Naka-san was reminded that it is Dr. Eggman's birthday too by this artwork and wished him a happy birthday too!

"Right, it's Eggman's 28th birthday too. I feel a bot sorry for him, but this art gradually creeps up on me and I like it. Happy birthday Eggman!"
- Yuji Naka

The FACE to FACE vol.2 was a spin-off event from JAPAN Game Music Fes, to which the trio band SONIC ADVENTURE MUSIC EXPERIENCE (short. S.A.M.E.) consisting of Jun Senoue (Gt.), Act. (Dr.) and Takeshi Taneda (Ba.) joined to play various Sonic music. And it was a huge success!
